Formula Gamma Decay Parent nuclide    Gamma quantum

Formula: Gamma Decay
Determine Daughter Nuclide Using the Chart of Nuclides

Parent nuclide

Parent nuclide of type \(X\) has nucleon number \(A\) (neutron+proton number) and proton number \(\class{red}{Z}\). The energetically excited parent nuclide decays into a daughter nuclide during gamma decay without changing its nucleon number.

Gamma quantum

The parent nuclide emits a gamma quantum (high frequency electromagnetic radiation) and falls into a lower energy state.
