The scalar triple product is the cross product between two vectors $$\boldsymbol{a}$$ and $$\boldsymbol{b}$$ and then the scalar product with the resulting vector $$\boldsymbol{a} \times \boldsymbol{b}$$ and a third vector $$\boldsymbol{c}$$. The scalar triple product gives the volume of the parallelepiped spanned by the three vectors.
