A charged plate capacitor used to generate the electric field that is there to act on a charged particle with an electric force.

A magnetic field which - in this case - points into your screen; it is used to deflect the particles by using magnetic force.

An aperture used to filter the velocity of charged particles, i.e., only particles of certain velocity pass through the aperture.

A detector that tells you how far the charged particles, measured from the aperture, have been deflected. These are then deflected into a circular path and land on the detector.
