A unit hyperbola was used to determine the scaling of the spatial axes for system A and B. A rod in system A has the length 1 meter. The event E marks the end of the rod. The event E', which happens at the same place as E' from the point of view of A, marks a shorter length than 1 in the system B. Thus, from the point of view of A, the rod is contracted in the moving system B.
