A unit hyperbola was used to determine the scaling of the spatial axes for system A and B. A rod in system B has the length 1 meter. The event E marks the end of the rod. The event E', which happens at the same location as E, marks a shorter length than 1 in system A. Thus, from the point of view of B, the rod in system A is contracted.
