A body (e.g. an apple) held above the surface of the earth or another planet has a potential energy (position energy). The larger the mass $$m$$ of the body, the height $$h$$, as well as the acceleration due to gravity $$g$$, the larger is its potential energy!
On Earth, the acceleration due to gravity is $$g = 9.8 \, \frac{\mathrm m}{\mathrm s^2}$$.
