Cross product $$\boldsymbol{a} \times \boldsymbol{b}$$ of two vectors $$\boldsymbol{a}$$ and $$\boldsymbol{b}$$. The resulting vector is always perpendicular to the two vectors and its direction is determined by the right hand rule.

The magnitude $$|\boldsymbol{a} \times \boldsymbol{b}|$$ of the cross product gives the area enclosed by the two vectors.
