Two masses \(m_1\) and \(m_2\) of different magnitude are at a distance \(r\) from each other and attract each other with the gravitational force \(F_{\text g}\). This attractive force is given by Newton's law of universal gravitation:$$ F_{\text g} ~=~ G \, \frac{m_1 \, m_2}{r^2} $$
